How To Implement Top of Funnel Social Media Strategy?
1. Create Content Consistently.
Top of funnel marketing is all about making people aware of your brand, so the first step to creating your top of funnel social media strategy is to create content consistently.
You will be putting your brand out there in people’s minds. But in order for this to work, you have to create content and post consistently.
People’s attention is all over the place nowadays. Seeing your post just once will not make them remember your brand. But if they see your posts every now and then, they will always remember it.
However, creating content consistently is easier said than done.
The obstacles never stop – you might not have inspiration, you might create content but forget to post, or you may just post on one social media outlet because cross posting seems like a hassle.
This is where an all-in-one social media management tool such as Hypefury comes into place.
Hypefury is a social media management tool that allows creators to create content and distribute it at scale so that they can have their freedoms back.
We will take a look at different Hypefury features that will allow you to create content consistently.
First of all, you need a Hypefury account. You can sign up for a free trial (no credit card required), so you can test all of these features.
Inspiration Tab
Hypefury has an inspiration tab that contains a collection of hand-picked best performing tweets from 15+ niches so that you don’t have to start writing from a blank page.
After creating your Hypefury account, click Inspiration from the sidebar to open the inspiration tab.
Now you can choose to see best-performing tweets from different niches. Additionally, you can see different ready-to-use tweet templates and questions that you can use.
1. Scheduling
Now that you have inspiration and you can create content easily, the next step is to schedule your content.
The best way to ensure that you post content consistently is to write all of your posts on one day and schedule them on different days.
You can carve out a day such as Sunday where you just write content. Then, you can schedule your content to be posted throughout the week.
The first step is to create your schedule. Head over to the Queue page and click the Schedule tab. On this tab, you will be able to set your posting schedule for all seven days of the week.
Depending on what you want, you can add more posting slots on some days and less on other days. When adding slots, you can choose to create slots for different platforms supported by Hypefury (Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and Threads).
Once you are done with your schedule, you can start creating posts.
And when scheduling, you can choose to “Schedule on next free slot” so that your post is scheduled on the next free slot on your schedule that you created.
Another way to make scheduling easier is to write your tweets in a spreadsheet.
Then, you can import that spreadsheet on Hypefury, and all the tweets inside the spreadsheet will be distributed according to your schedule.
If you’re just focusing on a single social media platform, you might be losing out on other audiences that are on other social media platforms. This is why it’s important to cross-post your content on multiple social media platforms.
Cross-posting manually can be difficult. But with Hypefury, it just requires a click of a button. You can cross post your tweets to Threads, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook.
When cross-posting to Instagram, you have two options: you can either share TweetShots (optimized screenshots of your tweets) or turn your tweets into reels.
Additionally, you can connect your YouTube account, and Hypefury will repurpose your YouTube videos into short videos that you can share on other platforms.
Let’s see how you can do both.
There are two ways that you can cross post to other platforms. You can either do it automatically for all your posts or do it manually when you are creating your posts.
It all comes down to your personal preference and how often you want to cross post to other platforms.
To automatically cross post all of your posts, head over to the Powerups page from the sidebar and turn on Auto-share (cross post) for the platforms that you want.
To cross post manually on individual posts, first compose your post, and then you can choose all of the platforms that you want from the platforms picker.
Repurposing Your YouTube Videos to Other Platforms
If you have a YouTube channel, you can connect it on Hypefury, and you can repurpose your YouTube videos to other platforms.
First, you have to connect your YouTube account. Head over to the settings page, click the Connections tab, and you will find an option to connect your YouTube account.
Once your YouTube account is connected, head over to YouTube to Tweet page. There, you will see all of your public YouTube videos. Select any that you want to repurpose, and you will be taken to the editor.
In the editor, you will see your video (with auto-generated captions). All you need to do is select the part that you want to share by choosing parts from the timeline.
After you are done, you can click “Repurpose,” and your video will be saved. Then, you can choose to post and schedule it on other social media platforms.
Repurposing Your Tweets to Reels (Tweets to Reels)
Another cross-posting feature on Hypefury is Tweets to Reels. Just like it sounds, this feature turns your best performing tweets to reels.
To turn your tweets to reels, head over to the Dashboard page, and there you will see a Tweet to Reel section.
You can toggle through your best performing tweets, and, on the right, you will see the reels created from those tweets.
You can edit the reels by changing the background video and sound. Once you’re done, you can schedule them on Instagram.
2. Engage.
The second step in your top of funnel social media strategy is to engage. In this step, it’s crucial to engage with both your audience (people who comment on your posts) and similar accounts in your niche.
Engaging is important because if you engage with people, they will engage back with you.
It’s important to have engagement because nobody trusts an account with 10k followers but zero engagement. People will just think that you bought followers, and they won’t trust you.
Engaging with your audience is straightforward. Make sure that you try your best to reply to everyone who comments on your posts.
Engaging with other accounts involves creating a list of the big accounts in your niche and constantly engaging with them. This is especially important if you are just starting out and only have a few followers.
Hypefury has an engagement builder feature that allows you to quickly engage with others.
In the engagement builder, you can search for accounts, or you can import a Twitter/X list. You can see the latest posts from those accounts and engage with them easily.
The engagement builder also has a Mentions tab, where you can interact with all the people who have mentioned you (the people who have tagged you or commented on your posts).
This feature is helpful because engaging on Twitter/X can be distracting. You might open your list for the purpose of engaging, but you might end up scrolling on videos.
The last step in your top of funnel social media strategy is promoting your newsletter. This is the exciting stage where you get subscribers, but this stage only works if you have done the previous stages correctly.
If you don’t post and don’t have engagement, promoting your newsletter will not work because nobody will see it.
And even if people see your newsletter, they will not subscribe if they don’t know about you. This is why it’s crucial to post consistently and engage with your audience.
To promote your newsletter, you will be plugging it in your posts that performed well as a follow-up comment.
The logic is this: Whenever your post performs well, you will promote your newsletter below it (as a follow-up comment). This works because if a post performs well, the algorithm will be promoting it and showing it to other people.
And when you attach your newsletter plug as a follow-up tweet, people will also see that plug.
When more people see your plug, more people will sign up. And from there, you can take them through the rest of your funnel.
I know you’re probably wondering right now how you can do this process manually whenever your post performs well, but the good thing is that you don’t have to do it manually.
Hypefury already has this feature that promotes your newsletter or product whenever a tweet performs well.
You create your auto plug. Then, you set the condition, maybe 50 likes or 50 comments. Whenever your posts reach the condition you set, Hypefury will automatically promote your newsletter under that tweet.
There are two ways to set up auto plugs: either manually on individual posts or automatically on all of your posts. We recommend the second way because you never know which post will blow up.
To create your auto plug, head over to the Powerups page. Then, click the settings for the Twitter/X auto plug.
Now you can set the auto plug post content and the link to your newsletter. Then, you can proceed to set the conditions for the auto plug to be posted.
What Is Top of Funnel Marketing?
Top of funnel (TOFU) is the first stage of the marketing funnel that focuses on getting people to be aware of your brand.
Think of TOFU as the stage in which you make people aware that your brand exists.
This stage is important because the more subscribers that you get in this stage usually means the more actual customers that you convert down the funnel.
Let’s say your current conversion rate is 2%. So for every new 100 subscribers that you get, 2 end up becoming customers.
To increase your number of customers, you can try to increase your conversion rate (which is a difficult and not straightforward process), or you can increase the number of new subscribers that you get.
So if you increase your new subscribers from 100 to 200, you will have 4 new customers, and so on.
How do you increase the number of new subscribers? That’s where top-of-funnel marketing comes in.
There are different things that you can do to implement top-of-funnel marketing and increase your subscribers, such as writing blog posts, focusing on SEO, or paid ads.
In this post, our focus was to leverage social media to implement a top of funnel marketing strategy. Top-of-funnel social media strategy works well because your audience is already on social media. You just have to make them aware.
The next step is owning your audience – and starting a newsletter is the best way to do that!
